Going to Cuba was a mind-blowing experience. I was amazed at the people I’ve met and I saw God in each and every one. You could see how God was present in their lives and how He was using them to do His work. Every job done for God is never in vain. I remember Carlos, a worker there who told us to always remember Jeremiah 32:27, which is God’s promise to us. The workers had such an amazing work ethic. They never complained about the hard work out under the hot sun. Instead, they were happy they were doing it because it was for God. I feel that this is something we need to work on and learn. We must be happy in our situations and not complain because we are God’s children. God’s plan may not be part of our plan but we shouldn’t worry about it. We must remember Jeremiah 29:11. Neida, our translator, told us that she would much rather die preaching God’s word to others than being in the world and doing sinful acts. We must not be afraid to do God’s work, preach His good acts, or bring others to Christ. We need to learn from our Cuban friends not to fear others and their judgment towards us or death that may come if we preach in other countries. Just like Paul wrote in the book of Philippians 1:21 about how dying is a gain because then we will be with our father God; and what’s better than that? We must do God’s work and will in our lives and if missionary trips are a calling in our lives we must not ignore it (Mark 16:15). I love Cuba and I will never forget our Cuban family.
