For my first mission trip I had an amazing time and learned so much. Hearing so much information about Charleston I feel blessed to even have the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful team! The work we did was great even though it was new to some of us we worked together and turned it into success. The people from the community that saw us really encouraged us by saying, "Good job," and "Keep up the good work." I knew from that we were making a difference, it might not look like it right then but with patience and trust in God anything is possible. Realizing where we stayed and served was a place of poverty taught me that you cannot judge a person by their looks or where the come from. For example, just because we offer to help someone doesn't mean for us to treat them differently. They might not be "poor," they might be struggling with a bill and that doesn't make them any less of a person. That really spoke to me knowing that I used to think like that.
This mission trip helped me to not be afraid to communicate with my peers or ask for prayer and encouragement. I got the chance to get closer to everyone even when I already knew them a little. The love of God was within us and I could see how much we all cared for one another. This will not be my last trip and I encourage anyone that is interested in being a part of the mission team. It's a life changing experience!
