As I reflect on this trip, my first mission trip, I realize this changed my life in ways other mission initiatives haven't. Not only was I able to give back, but I was able to build relationships and bonds with people I never thought I would have. Being a part of this trip helped me understand and gain knowledge spiritually that I didn't have. I am grateful and blessed to be a a part of such a life changing experience.
Lastly, I want to reflect on our visit to Mother Emanuel A.M.E. church. many of you know the tragedy that took place a year ago that will forever have an impact on the community. The response that was unexpected by everyone, but gave God the ultimate victory, was forgiveness. I say that to say this, the love I felt when I entered the church was unconditional. It was a love that only God could provide. Despite all that happened on that tragic night, a hate crime was turned into a love feast. This to me was the best part of the trip and I am honored to have been able to be part of it all.
Thank you Chowan University, Campus Ministry, Mari Wiles and Drew Phillips for choosing me to be a part of a great mission team. I look forward to future opportunities. God Bless!
