My favorite memory would be talking with David (the worker). We were both shy towards each other and at first didn't exchange many words. The more we worked together, the more we started to talk such as what is your name, etc. and by the end of the week we were talking, laughing and having fun. The day came when we had to leave, me, Heather and Ben were talking with him he was talking about how great it was to meet people like us and how we worked in construction; that many people consider this a job for the uneducated. He said it's great to see college students obtaining a degree to come to South Africa and to do volunteer work for free. He said a lot of other things, but this will always stick with me. God spoke to me by telling me to speak to other people, such as talking with David and Anesu. It was amazing to meet different people with a cultural background and because this, we have become good friends.
I appreciate door of hope by letting us help with the bricks. This was the first time the Chowan and the door of hope team had made these bricks; we did not know how much cement, sand or how many rocks to use. We were able to figure it out altogether. And I appreciate Door of Hope for letting us see the baby houses and allowing us to hold them.
I enjoyed this trip. It has been one of the best experiences of my life. I will take this throughout my life and will never forget this wonderful opportunity that I had to help serve God and work with amazing people.
