Nelson Mandela said, “Children are the most vulnerable citizens in any society and the greatest of our treasures.”
I do not know if there is a more vulnerable act than to place one’s child in a box in a church wall. My mind and life journey does not allow me the ability to understand how that would be ones best option. However, my faith shows me how brave it is to hope that your child will have a life of love, safety and possibilities. The Door of Hope is just that. The place where stark reality meets God’s hope.
I will forever be thankful that the Chowan group was able to partner with Door of Hope this May. We lived and served at the Village of Hope. With God’s help, this beautiful place will offer “home “ for the vulnerable children as God’s faithful will be their family. It was our joy to be a part for just a moment.
There is an African proverb, which says, “Love never loses its way home.” I am so thankful how God provides the map of love to these treasures!
